Back together again! Ken Canedo and Jesse Manibusan have once again joined forces to bring us an eclectic, fun, rocking collection of contemporary music. Speaking directly to the concerns of today—safety and reassurance in a time of terrorism, inclusiveness in a time of division and hope in a time of uncertainty—Fish With Me couldn't be more timely.

A mix of fun and funky, smooth and slow, this eight-song collection hits all the right chords, in every sense of the word. Spanning the gamut from gentle guitar-based ballad and choral praise anthem to hard-rocking indie pop, Fish With Me offers a wealth of new music for liturgy, music that is geared toward the needs and skills of today's pastoral musicians.

The recording boasts collaboration from highly regarded producers Dean Baskerville and Jeramy Burchett as well as the enthusiastic voices of the children's choir of Portland Christian Center on a few tracks. Although the CD has a definite "praise band" feel, each song can be used effectively in the liturgy, and there are helpful suggestions in the songbook for how to do just that.

With songs well suited for the entire liturgical year, this impressive collection also fills a gap with several settings of well-known scripture passages that are rarely set to music: "In the Beginning" (John 1:1–14), "God So Loved" (John 3:16) and "I Give to You a Future" (Jeremiah 29:11–13). Other highlights include "Hold On to Love," a lovely ballad about love's power over darkness, and "All Are Welcome (All Belong)," a song with a straightforward and pertinent message. The songs of Fish With Me are sure to become favorites on the playlists of teenagers, young adults, families and people of every generation.
